Picture taking seems to have polarised. At one end you have the person with all the kit and at the other end the person with the latest smartphone. They are both taking technically wonderful pictures. But, in the middle, there are just as many people taking the same pictures. And they are all very pretty, and there is nothing wrong with that. Sadly, almost all of them will live on a computer or in the cloud and never be seen by anyone other than the picture taker.
The Wider Angle is about inching away from pictures that are just pretty. We want to promote images that make statements, ask questions, reflect the reality of life today. Obviously, we want them to be seen.
It’s not about the camera, it’s about the creativity of the person behind the camera, how they see and interpret their world.
While we offer our images with an explanation of why we were inclined to capture that moment, each contributor has their pictures available to view as a gallery that you can peruse at your leisure.
These images are presented as examples, not perfection. We hope to inspire you to find your own creative niche.
